School Rules

School Rules at Petts Hill

At Petts Hill Primary School we expect our children:

  • To respect other people – adults and children
  • To look after our school
  • To follow the instructions that adults give in school
  • Our School WILL NOT TOLERATE behaviour that is hurtful to anyone

We recognise that good behaviour needs teaching and that rules for our younger children, whilst grounded in the expectations indicated, will be couched in different terms than those of our older children. To this end we have expressed the rules associated with the expectations in age-appropriate action. Adults within the school recognise the need for consistency with regard to these expectations.

Early Years Nursery & Reception

We Respect Other People

We are polite and well-mannered because:

  • We are kind to others and share with others
  • We listen when others are speaking
  • We always say please and thank you, good morning and good bye
  • We walk when we’re in school, on the right hand side, in single file, when indoors and through all doorways
  • We are learning to respect each other’s space

We put our hand up when we want to speak to a large group or the class.

We use our quiet ‘indoor’ voices when we are inside the school building.

We Look After Our School

  • We tidy up after ourselves and help others to tidy away.
  • We take care of our possessions, others’ possessions and those of our school.

We Follow Instructions

  • We always try to do what we are told by all adults in school.
